The Versatile Advantages of Synthetic Paper

In an environment that is susceptible to the elements of the outside world, traditional paper can fall short. While it’s a fantastic and renewable resource in many applications, it can be easily torn, prone to water damage, or simply not durable enough for demanding applications. That’s where synthetic paper comes in, offering a solution to some of these challenges and providing an opportunity for designers, printers, and businesses alike.

Say you’re designing menus for a busy restaurant, only to find that the paper you’ve chosen can’t withstand the spills and continuous handling. Or perhaps you’re creating clothing tags, but the paper tears easily when exposed to rough handling during the shipping process. There is a solution for applications that demand the durability to withstand the rigors of everyday use.

Enter synthetic paper – it’s made of durable materials such as polyester, polypropylene or polyolefin film, making it tear- and water-resistant. This means that end products such as menus, tags, manuals, and other printed materials can withstand the wear and tear of daily use without sacrificing quality or aesthetics. Restaurants, retail settings, healthcare, and educational facilities (and more) are the perfect environments for the use of this substrate.

Among the leading brands in the domain of synthetic papers for offset and HP Indigo digital printing is Polyart. The Polyart line is available in two variants for dry toner printing technologies and is available exclusively from Ariva!

Polyart Laser

With its rigid heat-stable Polyester (PET) foundation, Polyart Laser offers a unique paper feel thanks to a special high-tech coating. With Polyart Laser you are guaranteed excellent print quality and trouble-free print and post-print processes. It allows for folding or die cutting, and is tear, water and stain resistant. Your customers can even write on it. With an anti-static coating and no need for lamination, it provides a low maintenance solution for projects that require strength.

Polyart Laser is available in 3.8mil, 5.8mil, 7.8mil and 10.8mil thicknesses – all optimized for digital toner presses in 12X18.

Polyart Laser Soft

Polyart Laser Soft is the latest in the Polyart offering. With its specially processed polyolefin film foundation, Polyart Laser Soft offers a uniquely soft and silky feel. Still flexible and conformable like Polyester, it easily folds, scores, die cuts, perfs or guillotine trims, but it is more cost effective than PET films due to its lighter weight (35-40% more sheets for the same weight). Polyart Laser Soft is tear, water and grease resistant, and it can also certainly handle a ballpoint pen!

Polyart Laser Soft is available in 10.4mil, 12.4 mil and a soon to be launched 14.8mil – all optimized for digital toner presses in 12X18.

When durable synthetic substrates are required, remember to ask for Polyart Laser or Polyart Laser Soft from Ariva.
